Robots come out of the research lab

This year’s Swiss Robotics Day – an annual event run by the EPFL-led National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) Robotics – will be held at the Beaulieu convention center in Lausanne. For the first time, the event will take place over two days: the first day, on 4 November, will be reserved for industry professionals, while the second, on 5 November, will be open to the public.

On 15 September, after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, an Eawag Info Day will be held once again, dedicated to new technologies for monitoring surface waters. Visiting the researchers

Research within reach, on the pulse of the time: On 15 May 2022, the new exhibition in the Visitor Centre of the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI will be opened to the general public. It shows how the biggest research institute in the ETH Domain – and in Switzerland – addresses the important questions that society is facing, from the energy transition and the fight against cancer to the development of new technologies.

New partnership with Bulgaria for artificial intelligence

Today, the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Technology (INSAIT) has been launched in Sofia. INSAIT is a new Bulgarian Institute established in partnership with ETH Zurich and EPF Lausanne.

Solving problems with intuition

In her research as a number theorist, Sarah Zerbes focuses on one of the oldest – but also most topical – branches of mathematics. Her work is closely tied to one of the great open mathematical problems, the solution for which carries a prize of one million dollars.
